If your ancestors were born in Russian Empire or USSR we can render assistance in your roots search and to make your family tree. The search will be successful independently of your ancestors’ nationality, religion or their estate. Special documents remain in archives including genealogic information about peasants, nobles, priests, officials, citizens, merchants and militaries.

How it has occurred?

Seven years before in 1998 Public Relations Institute started to realize one of its programs, which idea was in the following: to conduct a ‘world outlook interview’ with successful businessmen and famous politicians, then to publish it as a deluxe edition on several languages. Not for sale, of course. These editions interchange improves donors’ rating. That was an idea. There was no such a service in Russia at least.

World Outlook Interview

It has soon appeared, that clients liked to equip the gift with a family tree research. After all, everybody knows that our abilities are often a result of our ancestors’ genes. And who were our ancestors? Unfortunately, the most of living people hardly remember their grand- fathers and mothers. And only few of them know whence their grandparents came. Gradually a demand for the family tree research became dominating. It has replaced the World Outlook idea itself. That’s how the Russian Dynasties Program idea was born. Gradually, the collective of the experts having the corresponding operational experience began to be formed and today after 8 years of continuous, the special organization has been created – Genealogic Researches International Institute.

Genealogic Researches

Every person has to know his origin, the history of his own family. The knowledge connects a person with his country and nation history, it implants in love, outlook, a choice of a vital way.

Today within Russian Dynasties Program everybody can realize a genealogic research of his or nearest families, to find some original documents about his ancestor’s life and to recreate his family tree.

How to restore a family tree?

There is a wide number of sources, which consist a bulk of a genealogic information, including all levels of population of pre-revolutionary Russia, independently of estate or religion. For example, registers of births, where marriages, births and deceases are specified. These registers of births also contain population censuses. There were 9 population censuses (from 1719 to1858), the first three (1719-1762) are kept in Ancient Documents Archive in Moscow (MADA). The others are in local and republic archives. Not all the documents still remain. The part of it is in shabby condition. But as there are a lot of document kinds, which contains genealogic information, we can find the information in either document.

For example, the First All-Russian Population Census materials (1897).

One more valuable source are Churches. From 1718 priests had to chart an every-year Parish Book.

An information about XVI-XVII centuries can be found in ‘Penman-Books’, which were charted for taxation. These books are kept in MADA, but it is hard to read it because of an old and unusual handwriting.

There are also a lot of special materials about militaries and priesthood, towns- and countryfolk.

This number of sources gives us a basic information on a family history.

Sometimes basic sources are default, but it doesn’t mean that there is no information about the person in the archive. After all, thousands of cases exist where the necessary information can be hidden, but it can be found as a result of long and laborious search, as mentioned names are not listed in the name of a case. So, we should look over every page in a case to find the name.

Accordingly a genealogist job combines investigator and digger job. But the difference is that the job is a scientific research at the same time and occasionally may be equaled to dissertation or monograph.
Russian Dynasties Program maintains a close contact with leading archives of Russia and foreign coutries. The Program’s employees often take part in various round tables, conferences and exhibitions refer to genealogy. Russian TV also pays attention to the Institute. Only in this year our employees took part on TV for 6 times.

Another line of investigations in Russian Dynasties Programs is Family Name Origin History (rus). It is called onomastics (onomastikós – Greek) . One who wishes a text about the family name will be printed on a special paper and the paper will be inserted into the frame. It was currently worked out more than 400 family name origin histories; for the most part these family names are rare. The main consultant is a famous Russian specialist in this field - A.V. Superanskaya, the author of many articles and books on onomastics. A linguistic origin of a family, historic and cultural roots of a family name is a good beginning for a genealogical research, as a hypothesis for a scientific research.

Scientific Base

Our employees often depart to regions (where our clients’ ancestors were living) gave us an ability to organize an unique library. It contains different regional archives guidebooks, directories, local publications on genealogy and onomastics. We also have a lot of rare books, which were published in 100-200 copies edition. During working in archives our specialists chart thematic data bases, for example: a townsfolk list of Stavropoulos before 1917; a peasantry list of Tothem uyezd; a first Vyatskaya land description translation of the XVII century; a register of birth of church in Khamovniki index (Moscow); 150 encyclopedias and vocabularies index during 150 years. Only the part of it is presented in Researches (rus) section.

The most valuable guidebooks on genealogy are in copies. So, our scientific base allows us to find answers for questions, which have both private persons and even organizations.

What are territorial, chronological and social limits of the research?

There are no limits for the territory. We retrieve not only in Russia, but also in whole USSR and Russian Empire. It is also possible to search in other countries.
Chronological frames of the research are also unlimited but unfortunately a documents amount is pro rata to its year. A typical depth of the research begins from ХVII c.

Some of the archives do not occupy with genealogic researches, so then we need to find specialists at the place or to direct our own specialists. Our researches geography in 2004-2006: Tver, Yaroslavl, Barnaul, Alma-Ata, Tambov, Orel, Tula, Novgorod, Kaluga, Vologda, Sumy, Cherkassy, Zaporozhye, Tomsk, Kemerovo, Yekaterinburg, St. Petersburg, Kazan, Kharkov, Poland (Warsaw and Lublin), Pskov, Saransk, Perm, Lutsk, Zhitomir, Vinnitsa, Kiev, Odessa, Baku. The Program currently has its own representatives more than in 30 regions of CIS.

The Institute conducts family tree researches of currently famous people, ministers, heads of departments and corporations. We also have clients that are descendants of famous people trying to find some information about their ancestor. But in whole our clients are typical middle-class specimen, that are interested in their kin history, undependently from their estate or a notorious title. Here our interests agree, because every family has its own history.
